Why staying hydrated and drinking water helps you to lose weight
- Does drinking more water and staying hydrated
help you to lose weight?
We've all heard that to lose a few pounds,
we need to move more and eat less
but it is more complex than that.
Certainly as busy women,
as we start to age and hormones are changing,
it isn't as simple as that anymore.
But have you ever considered.
drinking more water and staying hydrated is going to help you to lose those pounds?
you'll have a better understanding
about how drinking water and staying hydrated
does help you to lose pounds
and how you may need to up your game in this regard,
to really help you achieve your goals.
The first way that water is gonna help you to lose pounds
is because by drinking water,
it acts as a natural appetite suppressant.
So when your stomach feels full,
it sends a message to the brain telling you to stop eating.
So there may be times where you think you're hungry,
when in fact you're thirsty
and if you have a glass of water
instead of the unhealthy snack,
that is going to fill you up
and you won't be snacking on things in the late afternoon.
The second way that water is helping
is by helping the kidneys
to flush the waste and the toxins from our bodies.
If the kidneys get dehydrated, they're gonna retain water.
So by being hydrated, by taking on more water,
it prevents us from getting constipated
and feeling really bloated,
and it helps to ease any digestive issues
that you may have such as indigestion.
If we're suffering with these things,
we feel bloated, we feel tired,
and actually retaining that waste
is causing us to retain some extra pounds.
The third way that water is helping us is
by reducing our calorie intake.
If you're drinking fizzy drinks,
juices, sweetened tea and coffee,
if you're drinking alcohol and sports drinks,
all of these things contain calories.
So if you can replace a few of those drinks each day
with water or with herbal teas,
that's going to reduce your calorie intake
and help you with weight loss.
The fourth way that water is helping us is
by burning off that fat.
Without water the body can't metabolize fats
or carbohydrates.
So we need to be drinking water to help the body
burn off the calories that we're currently eating
in our diets but also that stored fat
that's in our body.
And the fifth and final way
that water is helping us is with our exercise.
It supports our body with exercise.
We all know that exercise is vital
to help us with weight loss,
but if we're not drinking water when we're exercising,
we're not staying healthy.
The water is helping our joints, our connective tissues,
our muscles to move correctly when we're exerting ourselves.
It's also going to help our hearts, our lungs,
our other organs to function properly
when we are doing more intensive workouts.
And they're vital when we start to ramp up the intensity.
So keep water with you to have before your workouts,
during your workouts if necessary,
and ensure that you're hydrating after your workouts
for optimum health.
I hope this helped you to better understand
the importance of hydration
particularly as it relates to weight loss.
And I'd love to know in the comments below
how much you're currently drinking at the moment,
how that's making you feel.
And roughly speaking, we should be drinking
about eight glasses of water a day,
but that does vary from person to person
depending on body size and the amount of exercise
that you're doing,
